Memories Monday: What 10 years does to a soldier
Submitted by Steven Thomas Howell of Statesville, NC. Thank you for the memory, and for your service.
Photo One: Gainesville, Florida. THIRTY years ago, moments before transitioning from enlisted soldier to commissioned officer.

Photo Two: Shaw Air Force Base, South Carolina. TEN years ago–retirement from service. (My son Wesley, now a U.S. Marine, stands in front of me.)

The years between these two events changed my identity and entire world view. Can any of us imagine ten years into the future?
I’m full of gratitude for the life I have now and the people I love, remorse for any harm I’ve done, and hope for a peaceful future full of creativity and good relationships.
Forward!
