On This Day…Runaways

OTD (and tomorrow) in 1960, my dad and mom were on their way to Fort Myers, FL. Mom was running away from her adoptive parents in Gainesville. She wrote, “I think my mother wanted me to marry someone who could be dominated and manipulated like I had been. She even threatened to call the police when I left with Dennis to come to Ft. Myers.”

They ran. So fast that Dad got a speeding ticket.

And the very next day a marriage license.
